For more than 40 years, manual wheelchair users have pushed the wheel forward to move. According to Rowheels CEO, Gaurav Mishra, “70 percent of manual wheelchair users get injured, primarily in the rotator cuff or hand… and spokes on conventional wheelchairs often catch fingers.
Rowheels patented wheel uses reverse gears to allow users to move forward by pulling back on the wheel.
This produces less strain on the shoulders, arms and upper-body muscles. The new Rowheels Revolution 1.0 wheelchair features a set of injection-molded plastic wheels, with no rubber tire or metal spokes to catch fingers.
Mishra sites research projecting that due to the aging population, 2 million people will become wheelchair users each year and, by 2022, it will be a $5.4 billion market worldwide.
We look forward to watching Rowheels grow and continue to shake up the industry!
